Germany is a wonderful all year round destination, although busiest between May and September when good weather is most likely and the great outdoors comes to life. Outdoor events and festivals often take place in both cities and villages; and hiking, cycling and swimming (in lakes or pools) are popular pursuits when the weather is fine, although rain is a possibility in any month.

Off season (from March to May and October to early November) there are fewer tourists and often surprisingly pleasant weather. In April and May, when flowers and fruit trees are in bloom, it can be mild and sunny.
Apart from winter sports, activities on offer from November through to early March are likely to focus more on culture and city life.
