winter sceneCrans-Montana is made up of the three villages of Crans-sur-Sierre, Montana and Aminona. The area boasts numerous year round activities to appeal to all tastes. For the sports-minded there are all number of winter sports, such as snowboarding. downhill skiing and cross country skiing, as well as summer sports such as golf, tennis and walking. Anyone not interested in sports will not be disappointed, with plenty of shops, restaurants and cafes to keep them occupied
winter sceneCrans-Montana is served primarily by Geneva airport, which is approximately 160km away, and which has a train transfer to the town at the foot of the mountain, Sierre. Zurich offers a slightly further alternative (280km), with public transport transfers taking about 4 hours to the resort. Sierre has the closest train station, from which there are regular shuttles to Crans-Montana.
winter sceneFor a change from the sports scene, Sierre (15km) has the Museum of the vineyard and wine, while there are a number of things to do and see anyone willing to travel beyond the immediate area. For a trip back in time, see Tourbillon castle in the village of Sion, or the Roman remains at Martigny.The kids amongst you might enjoy the Aquaparc in Bouveret, which is open all year round.As a ski resort it is aimed at the beginner to intermediate skier. It's 160km of ski runs are served by 41 ski lifts which are modern and efficient. Long queues are infrequent. Year round skiing is possible on the Plaine Monte glacier and is served by the new Funitel lift. It is necessary to take a bus/car to the lifts from most accommodation. During the summer; golf is an important sport in the region; with Crans-Montana hosting the European Masters Tournament every September. Other sports activities include mountain biking (120 km of trails) and walking (280 km of walks) through forests and five lakes. Alternatives to sports include 100+ shops; 80 restaurants and 20 bars/discos. Of the three villages Aminona is the quietest.
